About me

I was born in Strasbourg, France to my hippie American mother and French father.
I spent my early childhood in France, Greece and Cyprus before my family settled in California in 1981.

Growing up, I always had an interest in art - poetry, photography, film, creative writing, drawing, sewing and theater. I never considered myself an artist, but rather a lover and appreciator of many different genres of art, from classical paintings to street art to architecture and design.

After giving birth to my daughter in 1998 at home with midwives, I was inspired to begin working with pregnant women. Shortly after first becoming a mother, I began my training and work as a Doula, educating and supporting families seeking gentle and natural births. In 2007 I welcomed my son in my second home birth. I have worked for over 10 years providing in-hospital labor support, pre-natal massage and breastfeeding support.
I am an advocate for physiologically normal and evidence based birth practices, homebirth, breastfeeding and intactivism (protecting babies, children and women from genital cutting)

I now work full-time as a mother and part-time as a property manager and Realtor.
This photography project, which began as a "that-sounds-like-fun-I-think-I'll-try-it"
project, has reawakened my creativity. It has also proved a great way to stay connected to and support causes that are near and dear to me.
